Are you currently accepting new psychiatry patients?

Yes, our doctors are accepting new patients. They require a referral to be sent to our office. Once they have reviewed the referral, office staff will reach out to the patient if they are accepted. Referrals can be faxed to (248) 294-1286 or emailed to spero@speropsychiatry.org

Are you currently accepting new therapy patients?

Dr. Bernard and Dr. Harbin are not currently accepting new therapy patients. We do not maintain a waiting list because we want patients to seek services elsewhere so that their needs can be met in a timely manner. 

Are you accepting new psychological and neuropsychological testing patients?

Yes we are. Dr. Bernard and Dr. Harbin review all new referrals on a case-by-case basis. Please send medical records in order to be considered. 

Do you accept insurance?

Yes we do! Each provider is paneled with different insurance companies.

Dr. Barron accepts Aetna, BCBS, and Cigna.

Dr. Bernard accepts Prisma Aetna, BCBS, and Healthy Connections

Dr. Dion accepts Aetna, BCBS, Blue Choice Medicaid, Cigna, Select Health Medicaid, Tricare, and United Healthcare.

Dr. Harbin accepts Aetna (from Prisma Health), BCBS, and Medicare.

Dr. Jeffords accepts Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Medicare, Tricare, and United Healthcare.

Dr. McGarity accepts BCBS.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Currently, the only way to schedule an appointment is to call the office at 803-708-9591.

Do you provide telehealth?

Our doctors provide telehealth as well as in-person appointments. The initial intake appointment and first follow-up appointment are required to be in person. After that, patients may do telehealth and are only required to come into the office once a year.

What do psychiatrists do?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a psychiatrist is "a medical doctor who can diagnose and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions. They can prescribe medications and other medical treatments."
